According to a news report by BBC, Microsoft has agreed to acquire Nokia Mobile Phone business for $7.2billion. With this deal Microsoft would gain access to the patents and mapping services via licensing. The terms and conditions of this licensing is unknown. But it is expected that this acquisition would change the Smartphone and Tablet PC business landscape.
The challenge would be mainly between Apple, Samsung and Nokia. The battle ground may also shift to the courts in battles about patents.
Many would wait to see.
